Specials @ Niemuth’s for week of April 16th

Louise and I took my Mother to Columbus Ohio to visit my sister and her family over the weekend.  Yes it was my turn to spend some quality time with mom.  Angel Louise was with her in Florida for the whole month of February.  Mom took her feisty pills every morning at breakfast but I guess that is expected from an 84 year old mom.  She even slugged me on the arm once, she said I had it coming.

Saved a Carter story from last week.  Monday morning when Aaron drops him off we accidently locked the door.  I was having the best dream about filleting the most beautiful Halibut you ever saw when I was woke up by pounding on the door.  Needless to say Carter was full of energy and I didn’t get to see how that dream ended.

Specials for week of April 9th

Closed yesterday Easter Sunday not closed again until Thanksgiving day.   Going to be a long run till then.

Aaron rode back to Appleton with me and Carter last week.  Carter didn’t want to sit in the back so I told him to call “Shotgun Daddy.”  Aaron rode in the back.

Thank you to everyone who came in and confessed to hitting my sign.  I know you really didn’t do it.  Just needed to tease me a bit.

Brat fry this Saturday 4-14 to benefit stroke awareness.  Serving 10 am till mid afternoon.

I am looking at getting in organic, gluten free and natural grocery products.  If you are interested in seeing the catolog go to www.petersimports.com  you can click on shop by categories and click on sub items under each category.  Let me know what you are most interested in buying.

Fresh seafood for Tuesday will be Tilapia and Canadian Salmon.

Fresh seafood for Wednesday will be Sole and Arctic Char.

Fresh seafood for Thursday will be Sturgeon, Walleye and U10 dry pack scallops.  Someone asked what U10  and dry pack means.  U10 is the count per pound, under 10.  Last weeks scallops were 6 per pound.  Dry pack means no solution added to the scallops, just meat.

Fresh seafood for Friday will be Pacific Grouper, Norway and Scottish Salmon.  (first wild fresh was on a list this morning, like always very pricey.  Should be better price in a couple weeks)  Perch, Smelt, Yellowfin Tuna.  Yes I ordered Smelt again.  They didn’t show last week but he promised me they would this week.

Jambalaya Saturday and a couple other things

Rod will be in the parking lot Saturday cooking alligator jambalaya, gator brats, crawfish pie and gumbo.  The jambalaya is a new recipe he needs your feed back on.  Ready to serve about 10 A.M.  Hurry over, should be gone early.  Stop inside for the fixins to make your own.

Please let me know if you have any suspects who might have hit my sign out front.  My nice LED sign is now facing Mary’s Place.  It was hit by a truck sometime between Midnight and 8:45 A.M. Tuesday morning April 3rd.   We don’t have any Tuesday deliveries or garbage pick up so it must have been a truck that missed Calumet street and pulled in my lot to turn around.

I have Veal Oso Boco and shoulder roast if you are interested for Easter.  A couple American Lamb racks available and some Lamb Chops also.

We are Closed Sunday for Easter, have a happy Easter.

Big Wine Mistake

I ordered 1 bottle of 2009 French Domaine Raspail-Ay Gigondas a $40.00 retail bottle very highly rated and very rare, only 20 cases allocated to all of Wisconsin.  I was billed for 1 bottle they shipped me one case, 12 bottles.  I have already called them to pick it up next week but I am willing to sell it this weekend if you are interested.  Stop in and get them.  NONE will be opened for tasting unless you pay for it first.

I found the 07 and 08 versions selling for between $34 and $40 online.  I will sell the 2009 bottles that I have for 32.99 each.

Here is the description from the wholesaler:  Potentially the finest Gigondas made here since their sublime  1978, the 2009 exhibits gorgeously sweet black currant, kirsch, and mineral notes intermixed with hints of cigar box and forest floor.  Full-bodied with elegance married to considerable substance and power, a beautifully textured mouth feel, and a long, heady finish, this will be a long lived Gigondas.

90 points Wine Spectator, 90 points Parker, 93 points Tanzer
